One to one

The consultation provides a deep investigation of the health issues that you are presenting. The symptoms be they physical, emotional or behavioural are fully examined and explored in an initial 1.5-hour consultation. The consultations are completely tailored to you for the fastest results.

The result of the consultation is a complete bespoke nutrition and lifestyle programme for you to follow.

You will be asked to fill out a comprehensive questionnaire prior to your consultation which will include a 7-day food diary. The questionnaire enables me to understand you; what’s happening in your life and what has gone before.

The consultation process provides you with an analysis of what’s happening in your body and helps you understand why symptoms are showing up as they are.

Together we then build the program to restore your natural health and balance. Your unique rebalancing strategy is created in the following way:

  1. Healthy food plan
  2. Biochemical rebalancing
  3. Movement plan
  4. Lifestyle and wellbeing blueprint

Healthy food plan

As Hippocrates said, ‘Let food be thy medicine’. Food speaks directly to your cells, so without this foundation in place, your program will not be sustainable for optimal health. It is food that allows the body’s biochemical pathways to function to their ultimate capacity. You will want to eat the foods that turn on these pathways.

Biochemical rebalancing

Many of my clients have biochemical pathways that are severely disrupted. I may use functional testing to identify specific causes of symptoms. These disrupted biochemical pathways need to be corrected as they can be the source of inflammation in the body that can eventually lead to chronic disease like arthritis, cardiovascular disease and some cancers. It may be necessary to use nutritional supplementation to correct these disordered biochemical pathways and restore balance.

Movement plan

Most people are aware of the 5-a-day fruit and vegetable campaign. Current thinking feels that the same rules should be applied to movement. ‘Movement is Medicine’. Our body craves movement by expressing signs such as aches, stiffness or sluggishness. Daily movement is a pleasurable precious gift that we can give ourselves. Taking time each day to be present in our bodies, breathe deeply, propel ourselves through space is one of life’s great joys, enriching body, mind and spirit.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing Blueprint

Lifestyle exploration can reveal why certain parts of your life have become habit. Your blueprint could be made up of daily meditation practice, journaling, visualisation, for example to help you achieve your healthgoals in a holistic treatment plan. I will offer a fully supportive role in the recommended protocol that we have developed.

Nutritional Testing

I may suggest using nutritional testing to ascertain why you are experiencing your symptoms. The three most common tests that I use are:

Food sensitivity test – This test looks for an up-regulated immune response to 100 specific foods. Food intolerances can result in symptoms such as joint pain, food cravings, headaches, IBS, depression, fatigue and weight gain. A recent study has shown that those who eliminated trigger foods based on food-specific IgG test results had reductions in weight, body mass index, waist and hip circumference and improvements in all indicators of quality of life that were measured. The quality of life indicators included physical and emotional wellbeing, mental health, social life, pain levels and vitality.

GI Effects test – This is the most comprehensive test available for digestive disorders. It assesses your good bacteria along with how well you are digesting and absorbing your nutrients. Your gut microflora influences your digestion, mood, weight and energy, and the test looks for any bacteria, yeasts and parasites that could be causing digestive stress.

Adrenal stress profile – This test can detect imbalances in the stress hormones cortisol and DHEA. Imbalances in these hormones can negatively impact energy levels, emotions, and many other health complaints. These include anxiety, chronic inflammatory conditions, allergies, chronic fatigue syndrome, insomnia, depression, migraines, headaches, recurrent infections, menstrual difficulties and infertility.

Organix® Comprehensive Profile Organic acids are metabolic intermediates that are produced in pathways of central energy production, detoxification, neurotransmitter breakdown, or intestinal microbial activity. Marked accumulation of specific organic acids detected in urine often signals a metabolic inhibition or block. The metabolic block may be due to a nutrient deficiency, an inherited enzyme deficit, toxic build-up or drug effect. Several of the biomarkers are markers of intestinal bacterial or yeast overgrowth.

The Organix® Comprehensive nutritional test profile provides vital patient information from a single urine specimen. This organic acids nutritional test is valuable for determining:

  • Functional vitamin and mineral status
  • Amino acid insufficiencies like carnitine and NAC
  • Oxidative damage and antioxidant need
  • Phase I & Phase II detoxification capacity
  • Functional B-complex vitamin need
  • Neurotransmitter metabolites
  • Mitochondrial energy production
  •  Methylation sufficiency
  • Lipoic acid and CoQ10 status
  • Markers for bacterial and yeast overgrowth
